Design process

1.Investigate

  • Identify the problem:To educate young people today on the benefits of healthy living and healthy eating.
  • Design brief:write an interesting blog post on healthy lifestyle and healthy eating to attract young people to read and gain tips from the blog.
  • Design specification:the blog post should include well-organized information, and interesting and eye-catching video and pictures.
2.Plan
Plan and design a product/solution: design a blog post to inform, educate and convey information to young people on the following information.
  • Components of a healthy diet
  • Importance of eating healthily
  • How to have a healthy lifestyle

3.Create
  1. Use google to research and equipment
  2. Follow the plan and create the solution on the blog
  • Use google to research for information and picture
  • Use youtube to search for useful informative video
  • Use blogger to design the blog post
4.Evaluate
  1. Evaluate the effectiveness of the blog post
  2. Evaluate the use of the design cycle:it is helpful because it helps me to plan systematically on designing the solution and ensures that i do not miss a step.

How to have healthy lifestyle

1.Balance
A healthy lifestyle is all about balance. Eating the right foods, getting plenty of exercise and having a positive attitude are the basis of a healthy lifestyle. When your body is in balance you feel good and are healthy. When your body is out of balance you not only feel bad, but you are more susceptible to illness and disease.

2.Exercise
The American Heart Association recommends getting 30 minutes of exercise at least three times a week to boost your mental abilities. The reasons for this include an increased blood flow to the brain and release of the “feel good” hormones from exercise. When you eat right and get exercise your oxygen levels increase. This gives your body’s cells the energy they need to perform at their peak level.
A healthy lifestyle prevents heart disease by keeping your arteries and blood vessels strong and elastic. Regular exercise strengthens your heart and lungs keeping your body fit. When your lungs work better you bring in more oxygen which increases your overall health throughout your entire body.
Exercise increases the action of your digestive system because much of the action of your intestines depends upon the action of the surrounding muscles. When you exercise regularly your body burns the calories you consumes and gets rid of waste more efficiently.

3.Be positive
Researchers continue to explore the effects of positive thinking and optimism on health.
Health benefits that positive thinking may provide include:

  1.  Increased life span
  2.  Lower rates of depression
  3.  Lower levels of distress
  4.  Greater resistance to the common cold
  5.  Better psychological and physical well-being
  6.  Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
  7.  Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress
We should find enjoyable hobbies and try to be positive. All of these things will add up to a healthy lifestyle. A positive attitude is also very beneficial to your health. It can boost your immune system and protect you from catching every bug that comes along.

4.Healthy diet
A diet high in fiber, low in fat and low in sugar helps your digestive system work well. An adequate amount of water also helps waste travel through your digestive system. A healthy diet low in fat and sugar can prevent the build up of plaque in your blood vessels and reduce your risk for heart attacks and strokes.
Strong bones support your body and prevent osteoporosis. Your bones are the framework of your body and keeping them strong is important. When you lead a healthy lifestyle a good diet and exercise will strengthen your bones. Getting enough calcium and minerals is important to build and maintain your bones. Regular exercise not only builds muscle, but strengthens bones.

5. Do not smoke, take illegal drugs, or abuse alcohol

People who do not smoke have a much lower incidence of asthma and respiratory conditions. Men have a 23 times greater risk for lung cancer and women have a 13 times greater risk if they smoke than non-smokers. Smoking increases your risk for heart disease by 200 to 400 percent. Avoiding environmental toxins as much as you can is an important part of achieving a healthy lifestyle.

Importance of eating healthy

A healthy diet enables the body to remain active for longer periods and allow a healthy living. A healthy and balanced diet helps to maintain the required body weight with increasing general well-being. The body cannot get all the essential nutrients from a single food. The body has to depend on a wide variety of healthy foods with adequate amount of vitamins, minerals and fiber.

The imbalance caused by a disrupted fat level in the body can either lead to obesity or malnutrition, both of which is dangerous for the body. A human body suffering from obesity or malnutrition has a high chance of developing many diseases such as heart dysfunction, cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis and many others.

Components of a healthy diet

Nutrients from the food provide the cells with fuel to run the body. A human body without proper nutrients is vulnerable to disease-causing viruses and bacteria. A healthy diet consists of seven components which need to be balanced according to your weight, and level of physical activity. The seven components are: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, fiber and water.

1.carbohydrates
-carbohydrates converted into blood sugar in your body to provide energy for our cells, organs and tissues. Carbohydrates can be simple or complex. We can get simple carbohydrates from fruits, milk products and table sugar. Complex carbohydrates include whole grain breads and cereals, starchy vegetables and legumes.

2.Fats
-fat is important source of energy. Fat gives food flavor and helps us feel full. We can get fat from oils, dairy products, fish and nuts. Corn, canola, olive, safflower, soybean and sunflower oil are healthy sources of fat.

3.Protein
- important source of energy. Fat gives food flavor and helps us feel full. We can get fat from oils, dairy products, fish and nuts. Corn, canola, olive, safflower, soybean and sunflower oil are healthy sources of fat.

4.Vitamins
- The human body needs 13 different vitamins to grow and develop properly. We can get vitamins from eating fresh fruits and vegetables or from vitamin supplement pills. Each vitamin helps with certain functions. For example, vitamin A improves vision, vitamin C maintains healthy skin and vitamin D keeps the bones and teeth strong.

5.Minerals
- Our body needs minerals to build strong bones, create hormones and regulate heartbeat. Minerals help release the energy from food and improve brain functioning, which can help us think more clearly and make wiser decisions. They can be found in fruit, vegetables and fish. Examples of minerals are calcium, iron and iodine.

6.Fiber
- Fiber is found in plants. Dietary fiber is the part of a plant our body can't digest. Fiber helps prevent constipation and improves the rate at which your body eliminates food, since it cannot stay in the body as digested food material. Fiber also helps control our weight by making us feel full faster. We can get fiber from fresh fruit, whole grains, beans, fruits, vegetables and nuts.

7.Water
- Clean and safe drinking water is an essential component of a healthy diet. How much water we need depends on factors such as body size and activity level
